The Problem
Beauty retailers operate across disconnected systems
Independent beauty supply stores manage thousands of products across registers, stockrooms, and back offices, even though KISS Beauty Group brands make up nearly 30% of a typical store’s inventory.

Insight #1
Inventory connects every retail decision
From selling products to reordering stock, employees rely on the same inventory data across every part of the store
Insight #2
Retail workflows are fragmented
Sales, inventory, purchasing, and reporting often live in separate systems, forcing employees to switch between tools to complete simple tasks

Solution
One system connecting the entire store
Leveraging KISS Beauty Group’s presence across independent beauty retailers, I designed a unified POS platform that connects sales, inventory, purchasing, and operations in one shared ecosystem.

Design Decision
Shared foundation, specialized workflows
KRS supports both in-store employees and business owners through one connected system—combining tablet-based operations with desktop back-office management

Design Decision
Making inventory the common language
Stock levels, product information, reorder recommendations, and purchase actions stay synchronized across every workflow, from checkout to purchasing

Design Decision
Bringing KISS closer to the shelf
With KISS products representing a significant portion of store inventory, the platform automatically identifies replenishment needs and prepares purchase orders for retailer approval before submitting them directly to KISS.

Research
Understanding beauty retail operations
Stakeholder interviews and workflow analysis showed that retailers needed one source of truth across sales, inventory, and purchasing.

Solution Ideation
Designing around store operations
Instead of organizing around software modules, we structured the experience around how retailers work—selling products, managing inventory, and replenishing stock.

Information Architecture
One platform, multiple workflows
A unified architecture connects tablet and desktop experiences while adapting tools based on each user's needs.

Design System
One language across every screen
A scalable component library unified checkout, inventory, purchasing, and reporting while enabling future platform expansion.

Brand Identity
Building KRS
The visual identity established a modern retail platform while extending KISS Beauty Group’s existing presence into a digital ecosystem.

Iconography
Icons built for retail
A custom icon system simplified complex retail actions, helping employees quickly recognize inventory, purchasing, reporting, and operational tasks.

Final Solution
From POS to retail ecosystem
KRS transformed the point of sale into an inventory-first platform, helping independent beauty retailers monitor stock, replenish faster, and manage their stores from one connected system.
